Welcome to Xixario, a cherished barbecue restaurant nestled in the picturesque coastal town of Orio, Gipuzkoa. Located at Eusko Gudarien Kalea, 2, Xixario embodies the essence of Basque culinary tradition, perfectly marrying high-quality ingredients with time-honored cooking methods. This charming spot is not just about food; it’s a delightful experience you will not soon forget.

At Xixario, the cuisine is rooted in the local landscape, focusing primarily on exquisite seafood and expertly grilled meats. From the smoky allure of coal-cooked fish to the sumptuous richness of meats prepared over an open flame, each dish tells a story of flavor and heritage. The menu, though compact, promises an array of Basque classics that celebrate simplicity and freshness. Imagine sinking your teeth into perfectly grilled sea bream, glistening under a drizzle of olive oil and specks of sea salt, or savoring succulent king prawns cooked with a tempting hint of garlic and butter. Each bite is a testament to Xixario's commitment to quality, eliciting a symphony of sensations that dance across your palate.

The dining atmosphere at Xixario is cozy and intimate, making it an ideal spot for family gatherings or a romantic evening out. Many customers have remarked on the friendly service they received, with staff going above and beyond to ensure a warm experience. Hernan Morales, a satisfied customer, said it best, calling it "one of the best meals I've had in a while" and praising both the simplicity of the food and the stellar service provided by Carlos. Such genuine feedback highlights Xixario as a welcoming haven for both locals and visitors alike.

While the prices may be higher than average, as noted by Emiel de Ruijter, the quality of the food justifies the expense. Each dish is meticulously prepared, and testimonials reflect the authenticity and tradition that the restaurant upholds. It’s evident that for Xixario, dining is less about extravagance and more about crafting memorable moments through food.

When you visit, prepare to feel part of a larger community — a sentiment echoed by locals such as Mustafa Gungor Avci, who appreciates the family-oriented environment. You can almost hear the murmur of Euskera as you dine, heightening the local charm that permeates this establishment. Whether you're seated indoors or on the terrace, you’ll no doubt feel the warmth and connection that Xixario fosters.

In conclusion, a meal at Xixario is not merely about filling your stomach but about indulging in an experience that resonates with tradition, flavor, and community spirit. Brace yourself for an extraordinary culinary journey that transforms simple ingredients into memorable dishes, all while enjoying the relaxed, friendly ambiance that makes every visit feel like coming home.

It was on the quiet side for a Thursday evening, so no reservation was needed. Friendly staff. Prices much higher than average, but quality of the food is outstandig (and compesates a lot) . Prices of drinks are ok.

This is most local family oriented small restaurant. Coal cooking fish after butter and garlic. I will rate heigh due to tradition.

Nice food but quite expensive overall. 27 euros for 4 king prawns and 99euros per kilo of Sea Bream. Extra bread is also charged for.

The freshly grilled fish over the open fire was excellent. The gambas as also perfect. Everything is very simple, just salt, olive oil and a bit of vinegar on all the dishes. Cooked to perfection. The prices are not cheap but we had a great lunch.
